H. Gittins Transport
About H. Gittins Transport
Hughie Gittins started this business in 1972, and it has been in the family ever since. In the fifty years since we have grown from a haulier into a business that also tests, maintains, parks and stores commercial vehicles — all on one site at Aston Fields Industrial Estate in Bromsgrove.

Started by Hughie Gittins in 1972
Hughie started with the haulage, working out of Bromsgrove. The name over the door is still his, and the business has stayed in the family through the generations since.
That is the honest reason a lot of our customers have been ringing the same number for decades. The people who answer the phone grew up in it, and the person you speak to about a job is the one who has to stand behind it afterwards.
Four businesses on one site
Most operators deal with a haulier, a testing station, a workshop and a yard as four separate arrangements in four different places. We are all four, on one industrial estate, minutes from M5 Junction 5 and M42 Junction 1.
That matters on the days things go wrong. A vehicle that fails its annual test does not need recovering to a workshop, because the workshop is fifty yards away. A trailer parked with us can be tested while it sits. A machine we deliver can be stored here until the site is ready for it.
Fifty years is the point, not the decoration
Transport is an industry where the businesses that last are the ones that do what they said they would. We have been doing it from the same town since before most of the vehicles we work on existed, for customers who came back.
It also means we have seen most of it before. The trailer with the intermittent EBS fault that only appears when it is coupled, the load that will not go where the customer thinks it will, the test that fails on something the operator did not know was a defect — none of it is new here.
Who we work for
Owner-drivers with one vehicle, fleets running dozens, construction and infrastructure contractors, and businesses that just need something large moved once. The DVSA authorised lane, the workshop and the yard are open to all of them on the same terms.
We are FORS accredited and an HS2 approved supplier, which lets us work on contracts and sites that are closed to hauliers without those approvals.

Frequently asked questions
How long have you been trading?
Since 1972, when Hughie Gittins started the business, from Aston Fields Industrial Estate in Bromsgrove. We started as a haulier and added testing, maintenance, parking and storage on the same site, and it has been family run throughout.
Do I have to be a fleet to use you?
No. We work for owner-drivers with a single vehicle as readily as for fleets running dozens, and for businesses who just need one large item moved. Call 01527 870400 and tell us what you need.
Where exactly are you?
27 Aston Rd, Aston Fields Industrial Estate, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire B60 3EX — a few minutes from M5 Junction 5 and close to M42 Junction 1, with room on site for a full-length artic or drawbar outfit.
