HIAB Crane Lorry Hire from Bromsgrove

A HIAB is a lorry with its own crane, so it loads and unloads itself. If either end of your job has no forklift, no crane and no one to operate them, this is the vehicle that solves it.

A HIAB crane lorry lifting a load

No lifting gear needed at either end

The usual reason a delivery goes wrong is the unloading. The load arrives, and there is nothing on site to get it off. A crane-mounted lorry removes that problem entirely — the driver lifts it off and places it where it needs to go.

It is the right choice for deliveries to sites still being built, to private addresses, to yards without a forklift, and for anything that has to be placed rather than just put down.

Tell us three things

Weight, dimensions and access. The crane’s reach falls off the further out it works, so how close the lorry can get to where the load has to land is as important as how heavy it is. A photograph of the access is worth a long phone call.

We are FORS accredited and an HS2 approved supplier, so we can work on sites that require accreditation at the gate.

HIAB crane lorries questions

What is a HIAB?

A lorry with a crane mounted on it. It loads and unloads itself, so you do not need a forklift, a crane or anyone to operate one at either end of the job.

How heavy a load can you lift?

It depends on how far out the crane has to reach — the further from the lorry, the less it can lift. Tell us the weight, the dimensions and how close we can get the lorry to where it needs to land, and we will tell you whether it works. A photograph of the access helps.

Can you deliver to a site with no forklift?

Yes. That is the main reason to use one. Building sites, private addresses and yards without lifting equipment are exactly the jobs a crane lorry is for.

Can the load be placed in a specific spot?

Within the crane’s reach, yes — it is placed rather than just unloaded. Tell us where it needs to end up when you book so we send a vehicle with enough reach.

Flatbed transport

Flatbeds are what we run for anything that loads from the side or the top, or that simply will not go through a set of doors — steel, construction materials, machinery and oversized loads.

Curtain-side haulage

Curtain siders give you a flatbed you can load from the side and weather protection you cannot get from one.

Specialised transport

Some loads are not freight.

Vans & pickups

Not everything needs a lorry.
