HGV MOT Testing for Redditch Operators
Redditch is about eight miles from our lane at Aston Fields, straight along the A448. That is close enough for a vehicle to be dropped in and worked on inside a single shift, which is the difference that counts when the lorry is wanted back on the round the same day. We test rigids, tractor units, trailers and PSVs for operators across the Redditch estates.

Why Redditch operators test with us
Redditch grew as a manufacturing and distribution town, and a lot of what moves out of it moves on the firm’s own vehicles rather than a haulier’s — a couple of rigids, a curtainsider, a van fleet with a heavy at the top of it. Own-account operators like that have nothing spare to swap in, so a failed test that sends the vehicle off somewhere else for repair costs a day of production, not a day of hire. Our workshop is in the same building as the test lane. When something is picked up we tell you what it is, price it, put it right and present the vehicle again without it leaving Aston Fields. A retest is charged separately from the annual test and follows the class of vehicle, so a trailer, a lorry and a PSV are not all the same — but any of them costs a fraction of starting again with a full test.
HGV MOT questions from Redditch
How do I get to your ATF from Redditch?
Take the A448 west towards Bromsgrove. We are on Aston Fields Industrial Estate at B60 3EX, about eight miles from the town. It is a direct run that avoids the motorway altogether, which suits a slow-moving or plated load.
Can you test a trailer on its own, without the unit?
Yes. A trailer is tested in its own right and priced on its own axle count, so a single-axle trailer and a tri-axle are two different tests. Bring it in on its own, or put the unit and the trailer through on the same visit and save the second journey from Redditch. Tell us the axle count on 01527 870400 and you will have the exact figure before anything is booked.
Our lorry is needed every day. How do we test without losing it?
Tell us when you book that the vehicle has to go back out. We schedule the test so the fitters are free straight afterwards, which means a failure item is being worked on within minutes of the lane rather than after a queue. It is the reason a nearby ATF with its own workshop beats a cheaper slot further away for an own-account fleet.
Do you do the safety inspections too?
We do. Inspections are carried out to the interval set on your O-licence and the completed records come back with the vehicle for your compliance file. We are also an authorised service centre for WABCO, Knorr-Bremse and SAF axles, so braking work found on inspection is done in house.
