Trailer MOT Testing in Bromsgrove
A trailer is tested in its own right, on its own axle count, and it needs its own test certificate. We test trailers on the same DVSA authorised lane as our rigids and tractor units, so you can bring a full outfit in and have both halves done in one visit.
Every trailer is a separate test
A trailer carries its own identification number and its own plating certificate, and it is presented for test separately from whatever pulls it. That means a separate booking, a separate fee based on the trailer’s own axle count, and a separate certificate to keep with your maintenance records.
Bring the trailer with its identification plate legible and matching what you booked. If the plate has gone missing or become unreadable, tell us before the day — a trailer that cannot be identified cannot be tested.
Brakes, couplings and the things trailers fail on
Most trailer failures come down to brake performance, suspension and the coupling. We are an authorised service centre for SAF axles and for WABCO and Knorr-Bremse braking systems, and Haldex ABS and EBS diagnosis is one of the things we do most, so a fault found on the lane is a fault we can put right ourselves.
Because the workshop is on the same site, rectification and retest normally happen without the trailer leaving us.

Do you test trailers separately from the tractor unit?
Yes. A trailer is tested in its own right and gets its own certificate, so it is a separate booking and a separate fee based on its own axle count. You can bring the unit and the trailer on the same visit and we will test both.
How is a trailer MOT priced?
On the trailer’s own axle count, the same way a goods vehicle is priced on its. A tri-axle trailer and a twin-axle trailer are not the same test. What do I need to bring for a trailer test?
The trailer with its identification plate readable and matching the booking, plus the plating certificate. If the trailer has been modified since its last test, bring the paperwork covering the change.
Can you fix a trailer that fails?
Yes. Our workshop is on the same site as the test lane and we are an authorised centre for SAF axles and WABCO and Knorr-Bremse brakes, so most rectification is done the same day and the trailer is retested without a second journey.
