HGV Brake Roller Testing in Bromsgrove

A rolling road brake test measures what each brake actually delivers rather than what it looks like it should. We brake test rigids, tractor units, trailers and PSVs, and you get a printed result to put in the maintenance file.

What the test measures

The vehicle runs on rollers and we measure the effort at each wheel, so you see the braking effort, the imbalance across an axle and the overall efficiency as numbers rather than as an opinion. That is what makes it useful evidence — an inspection sheet that says the brakes were checked says far less than one with the figures attached.

Testing laden gives the truest picture, because an unladen vehicle can pass on efficiency and still be wrong under load. Tell us how the vehicle will be presented when you book.

Where it fits in your maintenance

A brake test at each safety inspection is the expectation for an operator licence, and the printed result belongs with the inspection record. We can run the brake test as part of a safety inspection, as preparation before an annual test, or on its own if you just need the figures.

Because we are an authorised centre for WABCO, Knorr-Bremse and SAF and diagnose Haldex ABS and EBS faults, a poor result is something we can trace and fix rather than just report.

Brake roller testing questions

Do I get a printed result?

Yes. You get the figures for each wheel, the imbalance across each axle and the overall efficiency, printed, so it can go straight into the vehicle’s maintenance file as evidence.

Should the vehicle be laden for the test?

Laden gives the truest picture, because an unladen vehicle can show an acceptable efficiency and still be wrong under load. Tell us how it will be presented when you book and we will advise.

Can you brake test a trailer on its own?

Yes. Trailers are brake tested in their own right, the same as they are MOT tested in their own right.

Can you fix a bad result?

Yes — that is the point of doing it here. We are an authorised service centre for WABCO, Knorr-Bremse and SAF axles and we diagnose Haldex ABS and EBS faults, so an imbalance or a weak brake gets traced and put right in the same workshop.
